The Centre of Excellence for Well-Being Sciences EstWell is a catalyst for top-level interdisciplinary research. Under the leadership of Professor of Affective Psychology, Andero Uusberg, the centre brings together social, behavioral, engineering, and natural scientists who study individuals and their contexts of action to discover new ways to measure, understand, and influence human well-being.
The centre brings together staff and students from various institutes of the University of Tartu, Tallinn University, and Tallinn University of Technology, but the centre itself is not an institution or a structural unit.
Centres of Excellence in science bring together high-level research groups working on closely related topics to conduct internationally renowned scientific research and to develop and implement innovative ideas. These centres create the conditions for strengthening the collaboration and competitiveness of Estonian science within the European Research Area.
The work of the Centres of Excellence is supported by the state budget of Estonia.
